SRC Awards 2021-2022

The SRC is happy to announce the 3rd annual SRC Awards to celebrate the achievements and contributions made by our students, faculty and staff. Any undergraduate student at UNB Saint John or DMNB are eligible to receive awards or nominate others for awards.

Award recipients are determined by the SRC’s Awards Committee composed of current executive members. Please find the list of this year’s SRC Awards below.

Club/Society Awards

Awards in this category are open to all clubs and societies that exists within the UNB-SRC.

CLUB/SOCIETY OF THE YEAR AWARD

Awarded to a club or society who has demonstrated a significant contribution to its members and the campus.

New club/society of the year award

Awarded to a club or society that was created on or after September 1st 2021 that has demonstrated a significant contribution to its members and the campus


Student Awards

Awards in this category are open to all undergraduate or DMNB students at UNB Saint John. All Students, Faculty, and Staff at UNB Saint John are permitted to submit Student nominations.

Outstanding contribution to student life award

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who has demonstrated a significant contribution to student life on campus.

OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO ORIENTATION AWARD

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who has demonstrated a significant contribution to orientation week at UNB Saint John.

oUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO DMNB AWARD

Awarded to a current DMNB student who has demonstrated exceptional contribution to the medical school or the student life of medical students. It should be noted that DMNB students are eligible for all undergraduate SRC Awards.

oUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO RESIDENCE LIFE AWARD

Awarded to a current undergraduate student living in residence on campus who has made a significant contribution to the student experience and community in residence.

aTHLETICS LEADERSHIP AWARD

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who has demonstrated a significant contribution to athletics and has shown leadership as a student athlete.

mental health leadership award

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who displays a commitment to improving the mental health of students and who has led mental health initiatives or events on campus.

Committee leadership award

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who is a student committee representative (UNB or SRC) and has shown leadership in advocating for students.

eXCELLENCE IN UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AWARD

Awarded to a current undergraduate student completing exceptional research at UNB Saint John (honours or not).

Excellence in service award

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who has demonstrated a significant commitment to service in our community or campus.

Excellence in sustainability award

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who has demonstrated a significant contribution to sustainability and environmental action on campus or in the community.

Resilience Award

Awarded to a current undergraduate student who have demonstrated the ability to recover from the difficulties of this year.


Faculty & Staff Awards

Awards in this category are open to all staff and faculty at UNB Saint John or Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. Nominations can only be completed by undergraduate or DMNB students.

Excellence in teaching award

Awarded to a current professor or instructor at UNB Saint John or DMNB who has demonstrated a significant commitment to educating and improving the lives of students.

Excellence in student support award

Awarded to a faculty or staff member at UNB Saint John or DMNB who has made a significant impact on students through their support and dedication.

Excellence in University Administration Award

Awarded to a faculty or staff member at UNB Saint John or DMNB who has demonstrated excellence in their role as a university leader and has shown a strong dedication to the needs of students.

Excellence in Open Educational Resources Award

Awarded to a faculty or staff member at UNB Saint John or DMNB who has demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of open educational resources on campus. This commitment could be demonstrated by bringing options other than textbooks to campus, advocating for more open educational resource, or a professor committing to not using textbooks for their courses.


Open Ended Awards

Awards in this category are open to all organizations, student, staff or faculty on the Saint John campus.

Outstanding Contribution to University Advancement Award

Awarded to a student, group, faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a dedication to advancing the mission of the university and improving the campus for students. Those who have contributed to special projects or have led large university improvements should be considered.
