The Students’ Representative Council has committed to helping UNBSJ students complete their 2008 income tax return for FREE on campus (Student Centre Suite 213).

The following dates and times will be open for students to schedule an appointment:

Monday March 9 11:30am to 3pm
Thursday March 12 11:30am to 3pm
Monday March 16 9am to 3pm
Thursday March 19 11:30am to 3pm
Monday March 23 11:30am to 3pm
Thursday March 26 11:30am to 7pm
Monday March 30 9am to 3pm

Please contact Thomas Hughes (VP Finance) at 506-648-5689 or src-finance@unbsj.ca to schedule an appointment or if you have any questions.

Please make sure you bring all T4 and T4A slips with you as well as your T2202A print-out from your eServices (log into eServices > click on Financial > click on T2202A Tax Receipt > log in > print)

If you did not have any income for 2008, you should still complete your tax return so you can be eligible to receive your GST tax credits.

If you are not able to attend the above, the university will be hosting two tax clinics:

Volunteer Income Tax Return Program 2009

We are looking for volunteers to help students complete their 2008 income taxes. If you are interested, we are holding a training session on Saturday March 14, 2009 in Ohland Hall 206 from 9AM to 12PM.

There will be trained volunteers to help you complete your 2008 income tax filing. If you did not have any income for 2008 – you still need to complete your income taxes to be eligible for the GST tax credits.

Triple S- Latin Fiesta at Taco Pica!

Hola muchachos y muchachas!

Lets start the semester of right with another Triple S event. Come meet new friends, enjoy a few drinks and DANCE the night away at Taco Pica on Germain St.

Now we dont want to hear any of this “But I dont know how to Salsa“.� Dinner starts at 7:00, by 9 will be on our feet showing you a few steps, before the fiesta really gets started a bit after 10. Yeah, and if you want to learn more complicated moves (or want even get a little extra help) there will be plenty of expert dancers on hand.�

We’ll have free appetizers, no cover, a few suprises andyou don’t even have to be a member!� So come on and join us for a fun salsa filled evening!

SRC Job Opportunities

The SRC is looking for 3 individuals to complete next years senior management team. The positions, along with descriptioins are as follows,

VP Finance

- Upon request exhibit the books and accounts to any member of the company

- Be responsible for the enforcement of the financial policy of the company

- Report monthly on the financial condition of the company and all committees, clubs and organizations to which the company provides funding.

- Advisethe directors and administer the budgets and special grants of recognized clubs and organizations pursuant to the financial policy of the company

- Present a report of activities undertaken on behalf of the company at each regular meeting of the directors

- Perform other tasks from time to time as requested by the President

- Present an annual report to council before leaving office

- Be responsible to the president

- Hold no less than 15 (fifteen) office hours

Social Director

- Plan and coordinate social activities on behalf of the company

- Assist with the planning and execution of events planned by those clubs/societies that are recognized on campus

- Recieve event request forms

- Forward funding requests to the VP Finance and the Promotions director no later than 3 (three) weeks prior to the event

- Attend all social functions to ensure smooth execution of student events

- Be responsible for improving and maintaining student involvement on campus

- Perform other tasks from time to time as requested by the president

- Present an annual report to council before leaving office

- Be responsible to the President

Promotions Director

- Service and maintain the Company’s website on a regular basis

- Be responsible for marketing approved events undertaken by the company or any recognized clubs and societies on campus

- Receive and complete poster requests no later than 2 (two) weeks before the event

- Present a report of activities undertaken on behalf of the company at each regular meeting of the directors

- Continually seek ideas to better communicate and market events to the students of UNB Saint John

- Assist in improving and maintaining student involvement on campus

- Perform other tasks from time to time as requested by the president

- Present an annual report to council before leaving office

- Be responsible to the President

Please submit a resume and cover letter in person to the SRC offices (Suite 213 Thomas J. Condon Centre) between 9 a.m. Monday the 23rd of Febuary and 5 p.m. Friday the 27th of Febuary.

All successful candidates will be contacted on or before Monday the 9th of March.
